Last weekend saw the best of Asian music and dance, Mayor with KRDF volunteersart exhibition, children’s  entertainments and a large spice in everyone’s Sunday lunch with lots of “big hot eats” zones serving alfresco cuisine at Aveling Park/Lloyd Park.

It was a fabulous turn out show casing Waltham Forests diverse community with families enjoying a day out. In addition to the food stalls there was an array of jewellery and henna stalls alongside Council information whilst on the stage famous asian singers and dancers entertained the crowd.

Kashmir Relief & Development Foundation (KRDF), a Cllr O'Rourke with KRDF volunteersWalthamstow based charity, also had a stall raising funds to rebuild schools devastated in the 2005 earthquake. Waltham Forest Mayor, Cllr Sheila Smith-Pryor, and High Street ward Councillor, James O’Rourke, visited the KRDF stall. Cllrs Smith-Pryor and O’Rourke congratulated the volunteers for the good work they are doing for the children of Kashmir.

Cllr O’Rourke said: “The Kashmir earthquake of 2005 was devastating not least for the children. As Chair of the Council’s Children & Young People Scrutiny Committee I’m proud to show my support for such a worthy cause.”

    People in waltham forest have always been at the forefront of providing help to the needy people.
    Cllr James has done a great work by highlighting this much important human issue because most people have forgotten the tragedy and hardships faced by earthquake survivors of Kashmir.
